I've been here a few times and I have to say that the water is magical. It differs from other hot springs, in my opinion. There is an earthy, healing vibe here. From first glance, the grounds look unkempt, but just look past it. They are slowly making improvements. The pool is located inside a 1920s pool house. The caretakers keep it true to its time period. So if it's pouring down rain, you may get a few drops on you inside the pool house. Think of it as refreshing, while you enjoy the sound of the rain on the tin roof. There are more soaking pools on the outside of the pool house. They vary in temp and are kept very clean. The pool house has dressing stalls, bathrooms, and showers. After a designated time each evening, the pool and tubs are clothing optional. There is lodging and dry camping available. Soaking is limited to overnight guests only. If you are lucky enough to rent the ranch house, you have access to a private soaking grotto located in the back of the house. Mosquitoes can be heavy at times due to the nearby wetlands. If you are a bird watcher or rock hound, you are in luck. This is a migration bird area, and you can hike out onto the salt flats where rocks can be found. Call ahead as the pool gets closed down for maintenance periodically and during the winter months.
Seriously one of my favorite places in the west. Have spent months here over the years and will always return. The owner is a great dude who built everything on this land that isn’t almost 100 years old. Quiet, remote, serene, and beautiful views. Also loaded this big country to explore by motorcycle or to the playa by foot. Love this place.
While I had a nice time here, I won't be coming back again. I stayed in the Paisley cabin and it was comfortable, but could also use some TLC. For what you pay, there needs to be new screens on the windows, dead bugs need to be swept off walls and the sconces are filled with hundreds of dead bugs. The doors also don't fill the whole door frame so really any small bug can get in, plus it allows for the wind to howl through it making for a very fitful night of sleep.
The grounds are a little dumpy too. One section of the property is a literal junk yard. I found the hot springs temp to be super inconsistent. They were going to empty the indoor pool Sunday night for overnight cleaning which meant they didn't really fill the pool with hot water Saturday, so it felt like a lukewarm bathtub. The springs outside were also inconsistent. The lower one wasn't filled the first day I was there, the middle one was same lukewarm temp as the big pool, so that only left one outside pool that actually felt nice, so needless to say - everyone went in that pool and it fits maybe 5 people. The next day, they filled the previously empty pool and it was scalding hot. The middle one was cold and the upper one was perfect. On day 3, the upper one was cold and I didn't even bother trying the other 2. I just packed up and went home. Honestly, I would look into other hot springs if I were you, until they step up their game.
Just do it. The cabins are wonderful, the vanlife parking is great, the soaking pools are peaceful. This is a rustic place, not a high end resort, and that is what makes it so enjoyable.
This place is spectacular. They advertise that it is a quiet, healing place and it is that. The views are gorgeous. I gave three stars for the room because it was more rustic than advertised and there were some things that did not function. The floors were heated which was nice and as long as you don’t mind a bit of nature in your cabin you will appreciate all this place has to offer.
My only reason for not giving it 5 stars was the lukewarm water in the cabin we stayed in. The shower was much better in the bathhouse. I loved the rustic feel of it, I think something would be lost if it wasn't. Your in a very sparsely populated part of the high Oregon desert and the lack of stuff adds to the charm. Like quietly sipping my coffee with no noise. And I highly recommend a walk towards the lake in the sagebrush. You can literally get away from everything. Which is a rare thing in this world. And the swimming pool and soaking pools were wonderful. Especially at 5am before anyone else is awake. The water made me feel like I was swimming in warm silk sheets. Did I mention the friendly helpful staff? I'll definitely be back again.
This was a much needed relaxing soli getaway. Pitched a tent on the property with many available fire rings to choose from. Atmosphere was beautiful! Spring water was warm but not hot. Bring mosquito spray!! Amazing view of the stars with a breathtaking sunset.
I made reservations to this place for my staff trip but wasn’t apprised that the big pool would be closed for the winter. After sending emails to the owners asking for first an explanation and second my money back, with zero responses, I’m writing this review. It’s a really expensive place for such bad reviews and bad service. For less money, I’ve booked a four bedroom log cabin house on Orcas Island with a a view of the Sea, a hot tub on the deck and a pool room, wifi plus a movie room! And it’s cheaper. I’m still hoping to get my deposit back. We shall see.
